Help centre: set up your mortgage calculator funnel

Most loan officers go from sign-up to a working test lead in one sitting; this page is the map.

Free plan, no card. Paid plans include a 14-day trial.

Getting PrequalFunnel live takes five steps: create a free account, set up your first calculator, paste the embed snippet into your website, submit a test lead to confirm it lands in your CRM, then connect a webhook to HighLevel, Zapier or Make on Producer or Brokerage. Platform guides cover each website builder step by step.

Key takeaways

  • Five steps: account, first calculator, embed, test lead, webhook.
  • The Embed tab in your dashboard always has the exact snippet to copy.
  • Always submit a test lead from the live page before you send traffic.
  • Webhooks need Producer or Brokerage; the CRM and email alerts work on every plan.

How do you get from sign-up to your first lead?

Do these in order. Each step depends on the one before it, and the test lead in step four is the one most people skip.

  1. Create your account

Sign up on the Originator plan (Originator, free forever). Add your name, NMLS ID and the email address that should receive lead alerts. You can move to Producer or Brokerage later without rebuilding anything.

  2. Set up your first calculator

Switch on one calculator to start, usually the mortgage payment calculator or the affordability calculator. Pick a theme, set your brand colors and rewrite the lead-form button in your own words.

  3. Embed it on your website

Open the Embed tab, choose a mode (inline is the default) and copy the snippet. Paste it into a custom HTML or code element on your site. The platform guides below cover each builder.

  4. Send yourself a test lead

Open the published page in a private browser window, run a calculation and submit the lead form with your own details. Confirm the contact appears in your CRM with the inputs, results and page URL, and that the email alert arrives.

  5. Connect a webhook

On Producer or Brokerage, paste a receiving URL from a HighLevel Inbound Webhook workflow, Zapier or Make. Submit a second test lead so the receiving tool learns the payload, then map the fields. See lead webhooks.

Where do you find the exact embed code?

Always copy the snippet from the Embed tab in your dashboard; it is the source of truth. It already contains your embed key, the calculator, the mode and any options you picked, so there is nothing to type by hand. The examples on this site use placeholders such as ak_… to show the shape of the code.

The snippet is one element plus one script. Your theme, colors and copy load from your saved settings each time the calculator mounts, so restyling in the dashboard never means pasting new code. You only re-copy the snippet when you change the calculator, the mode or an attribute such as language or position.

If you are choosing between modes, the embed options page compares inline, popup, floating bubble, your own button, direct link and classic iframe.

Which platform guide do you need?

Pick the builder your site or funnel runs on. Every guide follows the same pattern: where to paste, which embed mode to use, how to test and what usually goes wrong.

Third-party editors change their menus often; the guides describe them as of October 2026.

Which steps need a paid plan?

Creating calculators, embedding, the lead form, the built-in CRM and email alerts work on every plan, including Originator. Webhooks to HighLevel, Zapier, Make or any URL, removing the credit, and serving calculators from your own domain need Producer or Brokerage. Compare plans on the pricing page.

What should you check in the first week?

A calculator that is live is not the same as a funnel that works. These checks catch most problems early.

Mobile layout

Open the page on a phone. The calculator should fill the width without a scroll-inside-a-scroll.

Lead alerts

Make sure alert emails reach your inbox, not a spam folder, and that someone owns the response.

Traffic source

Visit with a tagged URL such as ?utm_source=test and confirm the source shows on the test contact. See lead attribution.

Compliance text

Your NMLS ID, Equal Housing Opportunity statement and approved consent wording should be visible on the page.

Questions loan officers ask

How long does setup take?

Most loan officers finish account, first calculator, embed and test lead in one sitting. Connecting a webhook and mapping fields in HighLevel, Zapier or Make adds a little more time, mostly spent on the receiving side.

Do I need a developer to embed the calculator?

No. If your website builder has a custom HTML, code or embed element, you can paste the snippet yourself. The platform guides walk through each builder.

Why should I send a test lead before launching?

It proves the whole path works: the form submits, the contact is saved with the numbers, the alert email arrives and, on paid plans, the webhook fires. Finding a problem with a test lead is cheaper than finding it with a real borrower.

Can I use the examples on this site as my embed code?

No. They use placeholders to show the shape of the code. Copy the exact snippet from the Embed tab in your dashboard; it includes your real key and settings.

Do I need to re-embed when I change the theme?

No. Theme, colors and copy load from your saved settings, so changes appear on your site without touching the code. Re-copy only when you change the calculator, mode or an attribute.

Which plan do I need for webhooks?

Producer or Brokerage. On Originator, leads still save to the built-in CRM and you get an email alert for each one.

Where do test leads show up?

In your CRM as a normal contact with every input, result, the page URL and the traffic source. Add a note or status so the test doesn't count in your own reporting.

What if my website builder isn't listed?

Use the plain HTML guide. Any builder that accepts custom HTML can run the snippet; builders that block scripts can use a frame mode or the direct link.

Can I embed more than one calculator on a site?

Yes, up to your plan's calculator limit. Place each snippet where you want it, or group several into one widget.
